i am considering changing the origional hyde stemstay furling gear with a newer type unit ( pro furl is the way i am leaning as i may replace the club boom with a furler also) but i am not sure what is the length and diamater of the headstay. my guess is the dia is 9/32 but how long???? any help out there.... any other feedback on type of furlers to use? how about the spin tech here on the HOW page??? thanks....(P.S.) my boat should be back in the water fri and it is the first time since CHARLIE that i will be able to use it. still need to replace an upper stay before i sail her though, but that should be done next week....I remember now why i moved south.... can't be without a boat all winter like up north... cold is standing in front of the ice box deciding what type of beer to take out.....

measure it Chet. Or do you not want to be out of commission that long? Even knowing that the 'I' dimension is 46.5 feet is not sufficient. Put your running backstays and a couple of halyards well forward on the toe rail and tighten it all down. Use a third halyard to lower it down from the top. Who is going to go up there? If your Hyde Streamstay is like mine then you do not have a separate wire headstay. The rod of the furler is the headstay. You will have to add a 9/32" headstay for most furlers that are on the market. Some guys have replaced the backstay with 5/16". Then you would want to match the forestay. This requires hardware changes though. Larger turnbuckles and terminals. I like the new Hi-Mod stuff. Let us know how it all comes out.

In 2003/4 I replaced all the standing rigging on my 37c. Contact Seeco South, Largo, Fla. at 727 536-1924. They have all the measurements for the H37C. I replaced all the rigging for less money than I could purchase the parts seperately at West and they are fast and accurate. I also upgraded all rigging to 9/32"(fewer emergency parts). I also changed my furler to a Profurl system and they made the adjustments to the headstay lenght for me, perfect fit. If you really want to beat yourself up, from my invoice the description on my invoice reads: H-37 1985 forestay 9/32" 1 x 19 M. eye to Profurl T.B. 47' 9 1/2". It cost me $126.50 delivered in 1/2004. I moved the CD furler onto the staysail and I kept the boom, works great from the cockpit Alan J
