Bill, If you have the old one for a pattern then

I would go a metal fabrication shop and have them build one. I doubt that this is a stocked item on the parts store shelf. Even if it was you would probably save a good amount of money having one built as this would be a very slow moving item and therefore highly priced. If you have no item for a pattern then make very good measurements and be sure to have the hole centerline measurements right on. It still is a easy item to build. Also be sure to explain that it needs to be stainless steel. Hunter Marine should be able to tell you what spec of SS. Like 304,316 or what number they want. Actually, after reading this reply I could be very wrong and Hunter might stock replacement chainplates but that would be scarry as hell. Ray S/V Speedy

Archives Bill.

Go to "Forum Archives" and use "chainplate" as your argument with "37-cutter" as the model. Search "All" in "Titles". There's a lot of info there about H37C chainplates. As Ray points out your only option is custom fabrication. Two fellows I know used heavier s/s for the new one(s). But if you go too large you will have to change the terminal(s). One company is in the Link below.

Thanks for your informative replies. Custom is/was my fear but thanks for taking the time to reply. While I may have many disagreements with Mr. Hunter, I have no disagreements with his many helpful owners. Thanks again, Bill www.longhornbill.com

not hard to make

They really aren't hard to make. All it takes is a hacksaw, drill and grinder to round the ends. A little buffing if you want them pretty. You can go to 3/8" with no other change. The originals had a plug welded into the hole to made it 3/8" thick anyway. There have been many that had cracks at the upper bolt hole, due to the side stress on them, so the original size wasn't strong enough anyway. I had the first two made at a machine shop, as I was traveling at the time and didn't have enough tools with me. Turnkey cost was $80 for the two. Materials included. Just take your sample, they can duplicate it even if they don't know what a chainplat is.
