I am beginning to plan for my retirement boat and really like the 91-95 Legend series, 37.5 and 40.5. My wife and I plan to coastal cruise in the summers along the east coast and maybe head to the Caribbean in the winter when we are not staying in Florida in the winter. Any advice on what your choice would be?

both are among the best Hunter ever produced

The .5 series Legends are among my favorites. It usually comes down to price and size choices but if you plan to live aboard for any length of time, that might lead you to the larger of the two simply based on interior volume and storage.

Hi Dennis, sorry to make this suggestion,...

but have your wife check out a Passage 42 as part of your selection process. When the admiral and I decided to upgrade I really wanted a 40.5 for a variety of reasons. As we were looking at at a local 40.5 we boarded a Passage 42 a few slips over and after a walk through the admiral exclaimed, "if we're getting a larger boat this is the one I want". The rest, they say, is history. No regrets; smart woman, my admiral. See link below that connects you to the P42 Knowledge Base. Good luck. Terry

I've sailed both

..and I would take the 37.5 in a NY minute. Your wife will probably prefer the 40.5 but the 37.5 is a far better sailing vessel.
