This sailing season on the great lakes I will finally have a windlass. As with everything on our 2002 356-we are the installers. At the close of last season I started searching for the factory installed windlass conductors. Our boat was allegely wired for a windlass but did not come with the unit. I found the 10awg leads at the fuse panel [marked windlass] but could not locate the other ends in the bow area. It was haul out season and time to head south so I did not remove any headliner panels in the V berth. I plan to resume the search come June. Anybody with info who has already located these pre-routed leads...that would be great.

Can you follow the wires from the panel and on my 07 H-36 has a special
breaker under the nav station.
Hunter does add breakers on the main panel for future add on and I have a few also and so maybe just the breaker and not the wires.

Those 10ga wires should be above the wood panels over the toe area of the vee berth - but they are the control relay wires, not the power leads. The windlass should have power leads (2) routed from the foot area at the nav station - a dedicated high current breaker - near the battery switch. those wires should be more like 2 ga or larger and bring high current (75-100amps) to the control relay mounted under the windlass.
I also had Escape factory wired but added the windlass afterwards. Make sure you get the correct windlass - the 356 uses a special low profile version.

I also have a 356 and recently purchased a Lewmar V3 windlass package designed for Hunter applications and am getting ready to install. Looking through the Lewmar information and the 356 owners manual (page 64 H-3) I see where the motor power is run from the battery selector to the circuit breaker and then run to the relay in the bow. The 2 GA wires start low from the breaker but how are the wires routed? Do they come up via the port side cabinet in bow and run along the shelf to the bottom of the anchor well? Will also add a breaker for the 16 GA control wire.

Are you planning to add the deck mounted UP / DOWN buttons?

Thanks for any insight.

Can't really see them but I think they are run up the port side under the deck (covered by the headliner?). In the forward compartment under the wood paneling they run under the deck stringer over to the starboard side where the control relay is mounted, then over to the motor. I'd look next visit, but Escape and the yard are under 8 feet of snow!
