35.5 Sette Table slider stuck

I have a 35.5 that I purchased with the settee table that would not move up and down on the compression post. I have disassembled the table and see the corrosion on the compression post. I don't want to beat on the table bracket to loosen it. Does anyone have any experience with this bracket. I know there is a counter weight in the compression post. It is moving freely. I would like to free the bracket on the compression post.

That is seriously corroded
I've advised people before to flood the area with PB Blaster, and let it sit for awhile.
Yours might be too far gone, but I would try it.
Nothing to lose.

Thanks I will give it a try. Nothing to loose, I will be on the hard for a month so I don't need it.
