The wheel on my anchor roller needs to be replaced, but I am having trouble finding a replacement. It has disintegrated too much to use for purposes of determining its original dimensions. My measurements suggest that a wheel of approximately 2.5 inches in width would fit comfortably. However, the catalogues I've looked at (Boat/US and West Marine) don't seem to have any in that width. They are all either too large or too small -- 3 inches or 2 inches, with one being 2 7/8 inches. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks.

Bow roller

Had to buy the larger roller and cut it down to the right width.A large hammer and drift pin where needed to remove the welded stud that holds the roller in place. Then replace the stud with a stainless bolt.

Check with Hunter

They may have a supply in stock and it will save you a lot of headaches. Back before Hunter had their own steel fabrication shop, they sourced out a lot of those tasks.

Anchor roller wheel

I just replaced the anchor roller wheel on my 1995 35.5 Hunter Legend. After trying several wheels I ended up buying the: Stoltz - Bow Roller - RP33 at Boater's World. It is a bow roller for a trailer (yellow rubber). It was the only one that would fit the 2.75" gap. I had to sand the sides down with my belt sander so it would fit with no binding and roll freely. I removed the existing pin by drilling on one side and punching it out. I then drilled the holes to 1/2" so I could install a S.S. 1/2" x 3" bolt, I used a locknut on the end (the ones with plastic one one end). Ozana

Let us know...

...if you find one. Many people have had the same problem (including me) and have put postings on this site. But never have I seen anyone post a source. I replaced mine one time, but I used the second roller from the Danforth. I use a Bruce and only needed one roller and had saved the second one.

Had one made

I had a machine shop turn me one out of UHMWPE (Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene). Its the same stuff escalator guides and snow mobile skiis are made of.

Solution Found

I took your advice and contacted Hunter. They don't have any in stock but are willing to make a new roller for me, since they have the drawings showing the dimensions. The original manufacturer went out of business. Call the parts department and ask for Mike Thomlis (sp?). 1-(800)-771-5556 extension 3015. The cost is approximately $35.00.
