343 vs. Oceanus 343 ??

Hi - I am currently looking for a new (used) boat, and the Beneteau 343 seems to be a contender.

However, I am very confused by the specs when I look on yachtworld or other sites.

The length seems to be either 34', or 35.5', depending on where I look. I also have seen it listed as 10.82m, which is 35.5'. I cant believe the LOA's are 18 inches different...what gives ?

Are there 2 distinct models (343 and Oceanus 343 ?? with different LOA's ?)

Can some of the Beneteau owners please clarify for me ??

(We are also considering a Hunter 36 or 356.....not looking to start any flame-wars though !!)

Paul, the Oceanis is a completely different model boat than the standard 343. While the specs are different, aren't the pictures, too?

The Beneteau website only shows the Oceanis 343 model. Most listings just shorten it to 343 and drop the Oceanis.

Yachtworld is notorious for listings with false facts.

Also they may also manufacture this boat in France and the USA with some slight differences but I may be wrong.

Yes the pics ARE different - but with the mixing of specs when I looked at listings - (the 343 is what I was interested in) , I keep seeing it listed as both 34 feet LOA and 35.5 feet LOA....which was confusing....so I was not sure if the OC 343 and 343 were supposed to be the same or not.

Now that we have that cleared up, is the 343 LOA 35.5 or 34 ?

OK - Thanks Joker460 for the brochure postings....so it's 35.5' (or 10.82m).....

Frustrating when the listings cant even get the LOA correct !

The Beneteau 343 is known as an Oceanis 343 in Europe. Most of the 343's here were built in SC. They had a run from about 2002 to 2006 or so.

Why not just go Beneteau for the correct answer. They built them, not those on the forum.

Oceanus 343 is correct designation. Hull is 34'. Bow sprit etc make oal 35'-6".

Mine is hull no 073, built in late 2005 as a model year 2006.
