Greetings, I'm looking into purchasing a 33 Ranger, and I hoped to hear about the bad sides of this model. So far I've seen nothing from anyone about common problems... it seems from other peoples testimony (magazine articles website reviews etc etc...) that this is about the best design ever. Are there any faults? Any common headaches? Or is this truely the perfect design? Frank

R33 Issues

The mast step on my R33 was rotten, and difficult to reach. I cut new access hatches in cabin sole to replace it. The diesel tank is impossible to get at, way aft, under the mainsheet traveler. Cockpit bench scuppers are a joke, 1/4 diameter. And, the chart table makes the pilot berth inaccessable. Those are my only complaints. It is still one of the finest, and fastest boats of its class I've ever sailed. Oh, and I found new breakers that fit the original panel for $30 each.

holding tanks

Steve, I purchased a 1979 Ranger 33. It never had a waste holding tank and the fresh water tank was removed. I would like to get some info or diagrams on what the most common locations for these tanks should be and any other info on installing the waste and hot & cold water systems. Any info would be appriciated. Thank you
