323 shower drain

Recently purchased a 2004 Beneteau 323. My question is in regards to the shower drain. There are three switches on the sink pedestal. A light switch on one side, and a toggle switch and momentary switch on the front. The momentary switch activates the macerate. The toggle switch activates the fresh water system pump, and interestingly activates it regardless if the branch breaker is on or off. From other posts regarding this, it seems this toggle should activate the pump to drain the shower. Wondering if this could have been changed by a previous owner. Currently, to drain the shower, you have to toggle the bilge pump control in manual mode on the rocker switch. It can't be done from the head. Inconvenient to say the least. If any other 323 owners can shed any light on this, or explain how your boat is wired, it would be greatly appreciated. If I've missed this in other posts, please advise. Many thanks?

The shower switch is wired to a junction box behind the back of the starboard settee. The switch at the head sink should start the pump, and it should not necessarily be a momentary switch. If there is a float switch in the bilge, it may be wired in a manner that bypasses the shower drain switch. Typical would be a bilge pump switch with manual and automatic positions. The manual position is a momentary switch by design. Essentially, you would have to wire the shower drain switch in parallel with it, and not in series.

Thanks Doug...appreciate the reply. I do have a float in the bilge. Assuming a float switch in the bilge is not factory, but installed later...? Its on my list to start tracing the wiring...based on your comments...i.e. Series vs. parallel. Something is not right...as I stated earlier...the toggle switch in the head that should operate the shower bilge actually pressurizes the fresh water system. And...it will do so even with the fresh water branch breaker turned off... Again...only had the boat for 3 weeks now. Chasing down interesting previous owner modifications is just par for the course...

If you do not already have an owners manual (binder) for your boat, you should be able to download one from Beneteau. In addition to everything else, it has the wiring diagrams an wire numbers for each circuit. It will also show all of the factory jumpers in the WAGO blocks. Some owners may not fully understand how those work and may install wiring bypassing those. Those diagrams might help you sort out factory wiring from that which may have been added by a previous owner.

As I recall, there are two different PDF files on the Beneteau site, on for earlier serial numbers, the other for later numbers.

Thanks Ron, that is exactly what I was thinking...and should be easy to troubleshoot/fix. Thanks to you and Doug for the help.
