I have just removed, with much difficulty and some casualties, the floor from my Oday 322. It was so well glued in place that I am wondering if the floor may actually be structural, as opposed to just decorative. Does anybody know? If it is just decorative, I am contemplating velcroing it back in place to facilitate easy removal in the future.

Speedy - When you talk about picking up the cabin sole do you mean the teak flooring or do you mean that you ripped out the the fiberglass flooring? The teak is cosmetic. The fiberglass you need to think about. Justin - O'day Owners' Web

flooring

I have been considering refinishing the floor. There is some water damage from the shower and a few winch handle dings. I wondered how much trouble is was going to be pulling the old floor and making patterns to cut the new one. Please let me know how the project goes. Thanks Doug

How it went

Doug, The floor was very difficult to get out as there was large quantities of very good glue holding it in. I had to drive in wedges to get the wood off, then use a wood chisel to remove the remaining glue and wood which remained on the floor liner. With the help of a quarter sheet of teak and holly, I was able to reuse most of the old floor, which I did not think was possible as portions of it were very black. The black stains sanded off quite nicely. It was very frustrating work, but it looks great now. Almost forgot, I had to cut the piece at the bottom of the stairs in half to get it out, and put it back in two pieces as well. The alternative was dismantling the stairs, which looked like a lot of work. Good luck!
