ODay 32 center cockpit Red Deer
Hi there, I have a 32' center cockpit oday that is a hurricane surviver. We had the boat trucked from Fort Lauderdale, Fl. to Alberta, where we are, to rebuild it before taking it on to Pacific coast. It is missing the swing keel. I need any info on it, what is it made of, what are its dimentions, weight etc. I'm assuming Ill have to get one made locally as Im sure weight will make it too impractal to buy one and have it shipped. Also the front hatch (cabin) is missing. Anybody know where to get one? Thanks for any help.

you could try Rudy at D&R but I think that its a stretch and I might be able to help in late Oct when I pull my 32 if I'm around the day they pull it I'll drop the centerboard and measure it....I believe its just fiberglass. do you have some of the board? and for the front hatch I would build up the sides with wood and cover with glass then install a square hatch made by Bomar,Lewmar or equivalent

Thanks Rad, any help is good.No there is no trace of the old board, even the mounting hardware (pivot pin) is gone. just the cable to raise it.

I believe the mounting hardware is universal to many models and the pivot pin is just a plastic tube, again Rudy might be of help
BTW the boat sails great without putting the board down, only some time I'll put her down is when I beating into the wind

Prarrieschooner,
here's a link from a current swing keel posting on the other side and some very very valuable pictures/info from our friend Joe, although its a 22 the same concept is used cause I've looked up at mine and when I saw Joe's pic's I had a "ah ha" so that's how it's installed moment

Rudy at D&R is not a big operation. He has a history of not responding to emails. This is not a high dollar operation, just Rudy selling off stuff he obtained from O'Day after it ceased.

While he has a website, do not expect prompt attention to it.

He will answer phone. Calling is best.
