315 Mast Hole

Our new 315 has a prominent hole in the mast where the radar unit would mount. However, we do not have radar, and thus are left with an opening in the mast. Selden says not to worry about it and that they do not make any type of cover for it.

However, it seems that leaving this open is not a good idea. Rain, birds, bugs, dirt, etc. clearly will find their way into the hole.

Has anyone come up with a method for closing the opening?

Rubber oval blanking grommets or plugs. Primarily used in wiring.

You will, of course, need the dimensions. Ebay seems to be a good source, but I found this picture on Amazon.

If you take you mast down on the hard, you might be able to get a welder to put a patch over the hole.
