311 additional battery locations

I'm in the process of buying a 2000 Beneteau 311 and want to install 2 additional batteries. The only place I can see that will work is the shelve in the cockpit locker near the battery charger. Looking for ideas and suggestions for other 311 owners.

Welcome to the forum.

Check this thread for 311 battery locations. My 2 additional batteries are near the diesel tank but it adds more weight to the starboard leaning issue. Thinking about moving them to under the galley sink.

Good luck with your new 311, hope it is not the swing keel version.

It's the bulb keel. Hauling it on Monday to inspect the bottom. Had to search to find the diesel water separator filter. Terrible location, buried in aft cabin in back of the engine compartment. You have to take out the cushions, and the way it's located you can't see the bowl. Bad location for changing the filter or inspecting it. Has anyone just changed this out for a Racor and mounted it in the engine compartment? Also, has anyone cut an access panel in the head to get at the starboard side of the engine? Would appreciate any 311 owners input on what to look out for on this model.... thanks in advance.

My filter is right at the bulkhead behind the tank. A bit of a pain to drain but not terrible.

I have the swing keel version and the swing part fell off. It was there during the survey in December, the pins are still there but the 660 lb cast iron is gone. Beneteau doesn't sell that anymore, nor of any newer model and has no drawings or doesn't want to share. But your bulb keel should be fine. No issues with the boat overall, my is a 2004 model.
