Have the blisters penetrated the gelcoat, or are they between the bottom paint and the gelcoat? A surveyor can give you a professional opinion then decide on whether this is the boat for you.Terry
She spends 6 months per year in salt water off the coast of Maine. The other 6 on the hard and so has a chance to dry each season. I stripped the bottom last year and found no sign of any blisters.The engine is a Yanmar 2GM20F, 2 cylinder engine.
The previous owner should have check out Hunter's Blister Warranty before he sold the boat-but for all we know you bought it cheap enough that it doesn't matter. Sounds like an impulse buy that he/she enjoyed one year and took 4 years to sell out! Anyway to the ------------> when you repair the blisters, you might want to put on a coat of epoxy barrier coat. (the oz. of prevention.Check the archives for "barrier coat" and "blisters". You will get a plethora of opinions and cost. Happy Huntering
caused the blisters! Yes the paint needs to be removed. Blisters opened up, cleaned and allowed to dry for a month or so. Then the blister need to be repaired. The boat needs to be barrier coated and final bottom painted. $10,000 of the asking price!Terry is right. The blister can be in the bottom paint. Bottom paint blisters are smaller. Check this first.
