The stuffing box on my '83 303 is attached to the sterntube by a 12" lenght of hose. This hose was soaked in diesel fuel that leaked from my tank and the outer skin has become mushy. Is the inner core impervious to diesel such that I can trust it not to fail until I can get it to a boatyard 5 hours away where I intend to replace it? Is the hose special order, or can I get it at West Marine, an auto store or elsewhere?
