Thinking of changing from 2 to 3 blades on my 1999 hunter 340. Would it be helpful when motoring in choppy waters? Thanks for your help.

We put a 3 blade Max on our H380

Yes, in my opinion, changing to a three blade will help you get through chop and currents better. We put a three blade Max prop on our Hunter 380 and was surprised at the smoothness. But was more surprise on a cruise where we hit heavy mixed seas of four to five foot waves coming from several directions but we still arrived at our destination about an hour and a half earlier then my predictions. It was a rough trip but we did well on time. E-mail me if you want more data. Les

Same on my 37.5

When we got our boat last year we spent 5 days running with a two blade prop for the first part of the trip and then 5 days with a three blade to bring her home. The three blade is much quieter, better a low speed maneuvering and does help in adverse conditions somewhat (chop and head winds). The big drawback of course is the sailing speed you'll give up from dargging that extra blade through the water (something like .5 kt on ours) Jim "Prospect"
