3 Blade Prop

I have a 1989 model H335 built in 1990. My boat has a Yanmar 2GM20, 18 horsepower engine. It appears that a year or two after my boat was built, Hunter started putting Yanmar 3GM30, 27 horsepower engines in the 335's. I assume they decided that the 2GM20 was not enough power. I have a difficult time motoring into a direct headwind over 15-18 knots. As everyone knows, sometimes this is then only way home on Sunday afternoon. I do not race and would not sweat 1/2 knot or so in sailing speed loss. My boat displaces 11,000 lbs, has the Yanmar 2GM20 with a 2.62:1 reduction gear and a 1" X 48" bronze shaft. The current prop is 16" by 11 degrees if I am reading it correctly (16X11X1 is stamped on it). Can anyone give me the dimensions/pitch for a fixed 3 blade prop? Also, without running the engine and looking at the spinning shaft (the boat is out of the water) how can I determine LH or RH rotation? I am also reading with EXTREME interest the posts on Autoprop, MaxProp, Autostream etc. and am deciding what I want to invest. The manufacturers can help me with these, but how do I size a fixed 3 blade and where do I find one? Also, any final thoughts on which of the folding/feathering will work best for my power situation?

Three blade 16" x 10" 1"shaft RH

Hello, The spec for the three blade is a 16” diameter 10” of pitch installed on a 1” shaft right hand (almost all standard Yanmars run RH). I personally would use a feathering propeller. It allows me the efficiency of a fixed three blade with the low drag aspects of a folder. I know in the case of my company, PYI/Max-Prop, we would spec out the 16” 1” three blade. When the prop is being installed at your end you will then adjust it to the 10” of pitch. Good luck. Kevin.
