Don't know about that specific engine, but a guy who used to be on here years ago, Fred I believe, had put a remote filter on his 3GM30 in a Hunter 34. As I recall it came from Summit Racing...he was a hot rod buff. One thing to consider and I'm sure this will start an arguement, Yanmar filters are designed to handle up to 100 lbs. of oil pressure and have a"bypass" feature @ 15 lbs., where automotive filters are designed for 40-50 lb. range and don't have the low pressure bypass. Just repeating what was taught at the Mack Boring diesel school. Buy Fram if you want, for the $ difference, I'll stick with Yanmar. All that said, I do like the idea of a remote location and if you find one that works with the metric threads of a Yanmar filter I'd say go for it. You might search archives by Author using "Fred" and boat model as Hunter 34 and see if his postings are still in there.
