2QM15 Freshwater cooling conversion

I have a 1980 H33 with the orginal 2QM15 Yanmar engine. I know the history of this boat, it was very well maintained, but used very little. The engine is in very good condition, but as with all 2QM15's is raw water cooled. I have decided to keep the boat (forever if I don't find a better one, like a cheap H37), and would like to convert the engine to freshwater cooling. 2 questions: 1. Most of my sailing is in brackish, not totally salt water, but there is plenty of salt in the water, and it does vary depending upon which part of Lake Ponchartrain I sail. Does this mean I can worry less about eventual salt buildup or problems with using raw water than if I was totally in salt water? 2. I have maintained larger diesel engines, so I am confortable with working on this small engine - but is there a kit for freshwater conversion still available, and if so, would you recommend it for an engine of this age, even if it is in good condition? thanks jim logan s/v "Reality"

Don't know if it is still available, but my '81 2QM15 in an H30 has a Sendure add-on unit for fresh water cooling... a little "tacky" as compared to the factory fresh water mod kits that I understand were available back when these things were new, but works pretty well, none the less...
