2qm 15 water pump

My 79 2qm 15 raw water pump in my H33 has been leaking for some time . I am probably going to rebuild it with new seals if the shaft isn't pitted. After searching the archives I found one post where someone used a Sherwood pump but didnt give any details. My question is , Is there a pump available besides Yanmar that will fit the 2qm 15? Any info would be appretiated. Kevin

Raw Water pump

Kevin, I had the same motor and the same problem and took it to my mechanic. He rebuilt it for about $70-$80, I normally do all my own work but I don't have the presses (rebuild kit is around $20) to install the bushings, plus he gave me a 90 day warranty. If the Shaft is bad it'll have to be replaced and at that cost the new pump is less. I now have a 2gm20f and because the boat sat for 4 years and is just starting to leak I'm having the pump redone on that also. A new Yanmar pump(for both models) runs close to $300, if you can find an alternate let us know.  On my old boat I never had any more problems, also be sure to not put you belt on too tight. That'll put you back in the same spot.Good luck.
