2GMF Trans Fluid

As I read the Yanmar Service Manual it appears to me that the transmission fluid is the same as the crankcase oil for the 2GM series. Is this correct or am I misinterpreting?

Trans Oil

John, check the plate on your transmission. I have an '81 2GM which takes ATF, not motor oil. There's a small plate on the back of the trans. that identifies which oil to use.
