Engine ran hot under load after 15 minutes. I noticed a stream of water (not a lot)coming from the "pin hole" at the bottom of the impeller housing. Checked intake, not clogged. Checked impeller, it was in good shape (but I'm replacing anyways). Any idea, while I continue to troubleshoot, on what would cause the stream to flow from the pinhole? Any sugestions appreciated. Thanks!

Water Pump.

John: I believe that you need a water pump! Once the seal/bushing in the water pump goes, that is where they leak. I would think that it can be rebuilt. Check with you local Yanmr dealer and see what the prices are.

Rebuild

I had my pump rebuit this spring for about $100, while a new pump runs close to $300. I had the same Yanmar in my old boat and had the pump rebuilt no more problems. P.S. check that your pump belt is okay, really should replace and make sure not to tight or loose.

You May Want to .......................

......... check carefully as to what a new coolant water pump is worth as opposed to having it rebuilt. I recently purchased a new one for $132 Canadian pesos. Not really that much in terms of boat units. (1 boat unit = $500.00). Regards, s/v Island Hunter
