The way I do it
It's not high tech but I use a powerful flashlight. I get into the cockpit lazerette close the lid and set the flashlight on top of the tank. You will be able to see the fuel level. If you do it at night, you don't need to close the lid. I assume that you have the same tank that is on my 1996 281. If it is, approximately one inch in tank equals about 1 gallon of fuel (just a rough estimate). There are gages that can be installed but they all require cutting an inspection port in the top of the tank and I have been reluctant to do that.I hope someone responds with with a better solution.
