272 mast sheaves

Would anyone know where I could purchase the plastic sheaves that are at the bottom of the mast.

Sheaves are measured by diameter and width to handle a certain size line: 5/16, 3/8, 1/2, etc. You can probably source them in numerous locations; however, rig-rite / Zspar might have them, as they have the molds for the tabernacle and step plate. On the other hand, they have had those two parts on backorder for the 272 for something like 7 years if I recall a recent conversation with them correctly, so I don't know if they would have any of the other parts on hand.

Charlie D, I also am thinking to change 3 or 4 of my mast base sheave wheels while on the hard this winter. On the 272 O'Day do you just drive the axle out with a punch? Or is there a special technique to perform the task?

I believe you need to drill out the outer pressed on shaft for removal then insert a something to keep the Sheave in place. If you look at the shaft it is smaller then the sheaves that you can buy from shaffer or some of the other rigging companies. they appear to be about 2 inches round for I believe 3/8 line.

Been there, done that, two 272's, not a big deal. The pins all punch out, some have to come out in order so you punch through one to get at the next. As someone else stated, almost every rigging mfgr sells them.Just measure accurately and be sure you're SAE or metric. Have a good winter!
