This is a repeat but must have not posted right the first time. I'm looking to fly a gennaker so the question is how many halyards sheaves up top does a 272 have? I currently only have halyards for the main and topping lift. It appears there's a block a foot or so down at the front but what else is up there. Mine is an 'LE but assume the two masts are the same. Happy sailing, Brian.

Block above Forestay

Hi Brian - I'm not sure what your current set up is, but in order to fly a gennaker properly (actually only really necessary if you intend to gybe it out in front of the forestay), you'll want a halyard block above or out in from of the forestay. If you don't have one already, you could add a masthead crane with a loop to attach said block - see photo attached to get an idea what I'm referring to. However, if you douse the chute before gybing, or gybe it behind the forestay, you don't necessarily need a halyard block above the forestay. Hope this helps! Trevor

spinaker halyard

On mine there is an halyard on the port side with rope ect and it is labled spinaker halyard.I dont fly a spinaker since my downwind sailing is always at a easy casual pace. that leaves 2 blocks open at base that I have no ideal of there use. Jim
