I read somewhere surfing the net that the keels can swell on the 26s, on our 1st trip out to the lake it appears that the keel froze or got stuck in the up position. We were out overnight, and sailed both days, it went down after lanching with no issues and wasn't making noise or swinging like you can feel on the 25, we did comment a few times about the keel vibration while sailing at a good clip, it was more of a humming sensation .
So I just never thought to check it, it appeared to be down with no issues.
When it was time to raise it heading to the launch, my partner lifted it and it started to come up then she said it got too heavy so she released the rope without tying it off ( could the keel have swollen and just wedged in when she pulled it up? )
When I checked it the rope was froze, locked tight. I brought her in and checkeded it out in shallow water and sure enough the keel was froze in the up position.
Any input would be valued, ideas on how to proceed, many thanks in advance.........

Never heard of one swelling, I didn't think the materials can. Could it be marine growth up in the pocket?

I could see one in salt water getting hung up or not going fully up if barnacles loaded on it or in the pocket

The stock center board on the M26 S is actually hollow, so it takes on water when submerged. Kind of a water ballasted center board.
If it is not marine growth fouling the center board trunk you could have picked up some flotsam that is jamming the center board in the trunk.
A piece of kelp would probably do it.
