I spoke to a dealer in California today and he relayed the followingSays the M does not have any fixed ballast. If anyone knows different let me know. I read in one place that the added ballast (300Lbs) is bult into the DaggerBoard well. The DaggerBoard is raised/Lowered via a line to the cockpit. This is in keeping with no ballast in the board or ballast built into the well because a heavy board would require somr fancy gearing system or electrical means of manipulationVessel Weight..........................2500 LbsTrailor Weight......................... 780 Lbs70 HP Suzuki Weight.................... 335 LbsTotal..................................3615 LbsThe reason for the Suzuki as opposed to the HOnda is that the Honda (although quieter) is not fuel injected as is the Suzuki. Also the Suzuki Powerhead is slimmer allowing for easier access to the vessel via transom boardingThey've only sold 4 boats to dateThe L.O.A. is still 25'10"The salon table may be connected to a secondary connector in front of the Helm station Post for use as a cockpit tableHe owns a boat with a liner and thinks the material lining the M is similar and is/will be a moisture wicker/mildew problem. Says from his experience you will need some sort of Desicant or Dehumidifier to prevent problemsVessel said to do about 20 MPH with the 70 (No ballast)Vessel said to do about 18 MPH with the 70 (Ballasted.)There is now Flotation in the Mast as wellThe factory will continue making both. The X as a daysailor for folks more concerned about price and the M as the more solid of the two for folks more concerned about performance. (If they are going to continue making the X then there may still be room for improvement to it)
