I mentioned in an earlier post perhaps a month or so ago about my concern (when stepping the mast)about the strength of the splice on the jib halyard or in fact that over time the halyard may get a little weary and one day fail resulting in a broken mast, yacht and heart. As a suggestion I would recomend that whenever you are stepping the mast you also attach the spinnaker halyard alongside the jib halyard (on the gin pole) and tension it as well. May take a few moments more but a good safety idea. Anyones thoughts welcome of course.
