I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
I am leaving for vacation in 26 days and I am going to head from Colonial Beach to the Bay. My plans are to make for Tangier Island (I know that this will take a few days). I have 12 days of vacation so I think that I will be able to make it and back. I would like to try to go from Tangier Island to Deltaville but I am not sure if time will allow. Does anyone have any suggestions or any ideas about this? Any local information would be appreciated!!

Tangier

Until I got my boat, I sailed vicariously through this gentleman's online log. I especially enjoyed his trip to Tangier. It's the 08/13/2003 date. I know nothing of the East Coast, but maybe you'll find his adventures interesting. Mac

Sounds good

With trips like this, you should plan contingencies based on weather and impulses. As a teenager, we took a Rhodes19 from Washington to Jamestown and back in three weeks; as scouts we routinely went the length of the Potomac (100miles) and back in two week shifts (no adults). If you are alone don't push so hard it isn't fun. ps. stay away from Pt Lookout in bad weather.

Plenty of time!!

Last summer we sailed our Pearson 26 from Solomons to Kinsale, Va on the Yecomico River in 8 hrs and the next day from Kinsale to Cobb Island in 8 hrs. I can highly recomend the Kinsale marina. Your trip to Tangier looks about the same distance and then to Deltaville in a day. Kinsale is nice but so is St Mary's City on the north side of the Potomac up the St Mary's River. Very historic. We will make a run to The Tides Inn this summer up Carter Creek on the north shore of the Rappahannock River. There and back we are planing 7 days. Have a great trip! David

cruising guide

Pick up a copy of the spiral bound Cruising Guide to the Chesapeake -- it will be invaluable to you. Tangier to Deltaville is an easy one day sail in ordinary conditions. You can choose to enter either on the Rappahannock side -- which will be shorter -- or the Piankatank/south side. You might also look in the book at their sample week's cruise on the lower Bay for other suggestions of where to sail in the area. Fair winds!

Timely trip

You can easily make it to the Crisfield rendezvous, which is posted elsewhere Friday on this site. There you will encounter a wealth of info, all from Hunter owners.

Crisfield rendez-vous?

Is there a rendez-vous scheduled during the time that I am on vacation? Could you give more information on it?
