In line with the board alinement concern in Greg's, "Stoopid Stoopid Stoopid" Post, How much "play" is normal in the centerboard? My 26 has some play when grabbed underwater when lightly pushed and pulled. (+- 2") I suspect that the pin/bolt horiziontal sleave must wear from use. Does any one know or have experience at the service life or wear tolarances before the centerboard should be droped out and rehabbed before board glass damage occures. Thanks in advance

Usually very snug and the questions is wear. The first thing I would do is to check the bolt holding the centerboard housing under the cover plate at the base of the compression post. If loose, tighten. If not,, then get back with a new post to let me know Crazzzy Buzzle Butt Dave

Follow-up

Dave... Large bolt tight and caulked. 26 is 94 model and used every season. In fact, what got my attention was a long five-hour "reach" between Block Island, RI and Marthas Vineyard, MA, in 3 to 5 foot long period rolling (non-breaking) seas. We could see the compression post move slightly at the cabin trunk level when we transitioned on the reach down the roll and as we flatten out. The movement was less then 1/2 inch, but clearly noticeable especially in the little white glassed cover piece under the table. It got me to believe the board was moving side to side in response to boat line being a bit skew to the wave forces. I'm not looking forward to the time and money required to drop the board for an inspection. I do suspect the pin sleeve to be worn.. But not really sure at this time. Thanks in advance...
