My foam-core rudder has finally died, and I an considering building one with a wood core and fiberglass covering. Has anyone done this and how has it worked? Also, the original rudder was 2.5" thick at the head and the leading edge. I see no reason to go that thick with a wood core. Any comments. Thanks for the help.

Just pulled my boat last weekend & checked the rudder. Mine is starting to split also. I fear I may have to rebuild mine also. I too would be interested in any info. mark
