240 tiller extension bracket

My tiller extension bracket is twisted and needs to be replaced.I've found a bracket that appears to look like it at Ronstans website.Part # RF-121 has anyone else had to replace this bracket? or know if this is the correct replacement part.I'd actually like to replace it with something a little beefier but theredoesn't seem to be many options for the round tiller handle on the 240.

Tiller Extension diameter

My 240 has a 3/4" diameter extension - I just replaced the plastic clip that holds the extension to the tiller. Get the Ronstan part that fits 3/4" tube extensions. There is a "truly robust" universal connector for 3/4" tubes available from West Marine ($29.99) - their catalog number is 274639. Be careful putting the screws into the tapped holes in the aluminum tiller - it's real easy to strip the threads.

I don't have the stock extension

That would work if I had the original extension. But mine was replaced with a fiberglass unit and I don't think it would last long with that particular bracket. It looks as though you would have to drill holes through it and it would probably chew up the fiberglass quickly. I'm looking for something like the original but more durable.
