After lowering the mast on my 240 today (end of season sad face), I didn't realize that one of the spreaders got caught up on a lifeline, so the mast was a bit crooked as I tried to remove the pin. The end result was that the pin bent and the mast step plate snapped where the pin is inserted.

Anyone ever replace the mast step plate before? Thanks-

Jeff

We had a 240 for a season and moved up to a 260 which is pretty much the same hardware and i'm fairly sure you can get these parts from Hunter. Send them an email or give them a call.

It should come off fairly easily. My 260 base was easy to remove when I pulled the compression post last year. Good luck.

I ripped the mast base plate out of the extrusion on mine end of last season when the mast tilted side-to-side while unstepping. The aluminum rivets popped, and the end of the mast extrusion itself was flared slightly. The base plate was not damaged. I was able to easily use a rivet tool and aluminum rivets to reattach - don't know if screws are involved in yours. I figured that aluminum rivets are enough, since there's no real stress on the rivets once the mast is up. Plus, they are sacrificial - if this ever happens again, I'd rather have the rivets fail than the extrusion.

If you have not installed it yet, consider applying a layer of bonding sealer underneath but don't take my word for it. there may be more suitable products.
