The desk from the rear legs of the pulpit to the bow cleat appears soft, to much flex.
The starbored rear leg borke through the deck fiberglass.
Could use advise on cutting away the desk surface and replacing core and material and deck

Frank,
Check out a book entitled, "Sailboat hull & Deck Repair" by Don Casey. It's probably in your local library.

thanks guys
I the soft core appears to be plywood that is simply rotting . A preveous owner had installed hardware, running lights and, lifelines and did not bed these thru deck fittings.
Fortunatly the only real soft area in arount the pulpit rear legs.
I'm taking a real close look and get my plan together I'll keep you posted
thanks again

The bad news is that the softness extends from 5 or 6" behind the behind the front stay deck fitting at the bow along the tow rail to about a foot past the cabin rise.

The good news is it's a narrow section about 4 " wide at the bow down the center line 18" at it widest then narrows at the rear pulpit leg to about t3" the rest of the way.

Preparing for the Git Rot treatment I dirilled a series of in the desk and core was very wet..
I drilled a few weep hole at the down hill end to try and dry it out.

For stiffing if I'm going to grind gelcoat to the faber glass and then and then build up with cloth and matt .
