I have read many posts re: Bimini's on the Hunter 23. Many people report sailing with the Bimini up. Am I missing something? How can that be when the boom almost hits my head with the topping lift slack and the sail fully up. I assume the front of the shade is aft of the mainsheet when raised, but the height issue has me confused to the max. Help Please!!!

Bimini's and booms....

Dan, Hunter 23's have fairly wide rigging range. I wouldn't be surprised to find some factory 23's with enough boom clearance to allow a bimini installation as is. However, some with low booms do have sail aria removed by a sailmaker to allow sufficient clearance. I personally find that with tension on the topping lift on light air days, that extra material gives the main a more powerful shape. I'm pretty sure there's a name for this, but I can't think of it.
