23.5 or 240?

I am going to be in the market for either a used 23.5 or 240. Has anyone made this decision lately? I had a 23.5 and enjoyed it. There seems to be a fairly good difference in price to move to the 240, even from one year to the next in age. What do you see as the major differences other than appearance?

23.5 is simpler

Essentially the 23.5 and the 240 are the same. I think the way it is set up the 240 would be but harder to steer into tight places. One think I really like about the 23.5 is that I can turn one a dime when I use the rudder and the motor together. If you owned a 23.5 I would sure test drive the 240 and see if I liked it better.

Aft Berth

The big difference I see is the aft berth. On the 240 it is perpendicular to the boat which would make the first one in even more claustrophobic than on the 23.5. The 240 has tubular support struts for raising the mast, seems like more trouble to store or to replace. The 23.5 has a slight bit more sail area not sure if this translates into being faster or not. We were looking at both when we bought our 23.5 sitting right next to each other there was not much difference. Sounds like the 23.5 with the price difference is the way to go. The only thing on the 240 we looked at I liked better was the stern rail seats, which I have added and the cloth interior which I am now glad we do not have.

How about a older H23

I just bought a 1991 model H23. It has a fixed wing keel and is heavier to tow but is much more affordable!
