23.5 Hull ID #

I am looking at a Hunter 23.5 with the hull # "etched" into the starboard side of the boat. I'm suspicious for I understand the number an embossed stamp from the factory. Am I correct to feel this way?

Pictures would really help with this. Do you mean it looks hand etched?

Mine is also stamped in the outside lip of the companion way up towards the mast.

Try looking there to see if they match.

thanks rick. Yes I did see that when the number was wrong and more gel coat was applied over the number on the starboard rear of the hull towards the aft. In fact I had to change a few that were wrong.
