I just aquired a H23.5 and was doing some looking around on here about tuning the rig and adjusting the forestay. Mine doesn't have a turnbuckle like I'm used to. it just has multiple holes to hook to which doesn't give you very precise adjustment. Are other 23.5 boats set up this same way or do I have an oddball? thanks james

23.5 forestay turnbuckle

The forestay length is used to adjust mast rake. Once set to the correct rake it doesn't get any more adjustment. Mast rake is set at between 1% and 2% of mast height.

Mine Has A Turnbuckle

Sounds like yours was changed at some point. Maybe the good news is that your forestay is newer than the boat and you do not have to worry about replacing it anytime soon. Bad news is I think you are going to have a hardtime getting it pinned when you raise and lower the mast.

Is it a Shroud Adjuster or a....

Johnson Quick Release. A Johnson Quick release is one of the best mods you can made on a trailersailer. If that's what you have, attaching the forestay should be a lot easier. Since I keep my boat on the trailer when not sailing, I'm thinking of removing the roller furling and adding a new forstay with a Johnson Quick Release. I'll have to get a new'hank on' jib. Mike
