Reinforcement might be called for
I have a 94 23.5 and the bow eyed pulled loose back in 1998. There are some posts in the archive that talk about this and how to reinforce the bow eye so it does not happen again.I was taking the boat out of the water at a really steep ramp. The ramp was really rough and buy the time I reached the top, the bow eye was showing a half inch of threaded rod outside the hull.Inside the hull, the bow eye was supported by a some fiberglass and cloth that went from one side of the hull to the other. Under the cloth was air. Once the nut and washer on the bow eye broke throuh the cloth, the material of the hull was the only thing keeping it from pulling all the way out.I bent up a stainless steel strap and glassed it into the bow. The straps extend about eight inches towards the stern along each side of the hull. I also built up a solid platform for the nut and washer to ride on. If the bow eye ever pulls out again it is taking half the boat with it.Al Beattie
