23.5 Bimini

Last season I installed the Ameriseam bimini on my 23.5. While it was wonderful at anchor, in the slip, or while motoring, I was disapointed that I was unable to sail with it up. Another 23.5 owner later told me that he sailed all the time with his Ameriseam bimini up. I assumed that raising the boom high enough to clear the bimini would be too much of an adverse impact on sail shape. I'll certainly try it this spring, but was wondering if any others had sailed with the bimini up.

Sail with mine up on Lake Michigan,mostly on hot days with10 to15 knot winds.Raise boom 2 in above bimini with topping lift,works great.Only drawback is checking masthead windex .Am thinking about adding clear window to bimini.Think I saw one in forums.For Xmas,my kids gave me a set of shroud windexes,see if they work.
