I'm getting ready to head to the lake to install my new bimini (purchased from Ameriseam for a 19996 Hunter 23.5). The bimini is at the marina.

I assume the instructions are adequate, but was wondering where I will be drilling holes. Probably aft on the gunwales and also forward, either on the bulkhead by the companionway or also on the gunwales. Is that correct?

Bill, I have not installed a bimini on a 23.5 but on my 23 the instructions are good but not complete. Put the whole bimini together and then place it on your boat. Check clearance for the boom, main sheet, jib sheets, tiller, out board, everything. Then mark and drill. You may have to disassemble it to screw it down. I sealed every hole with a good 30 year silicon. Then reassemble and enjoy. Charles

I installed a bimini on Kinship last year with little problems. Our bimini is from the store here, and Kinship is a '93 23.5. The only problem that I ran into was when I drilled the holes for the aft mounting fittings, one of the screw holes on each side ended up hitting backing plates that I believe were molded into the gunnel for spinnikar hardware.
