I am looking at a Catalina 22 with a wing keel. I believe it has a 2'8" draft. With this shoald draft how well does it go to windward compared to a 22 swing keel? Thanks, Tom PS I am reposting this question on this BB because I noticed that I had posted it on the wrong bb.

Your upwind performance will be similar to a swing but not as good as the fixed fin keel version. We have a wing on our C250. I think a wing is a fine keel, gives you shoal depth but without the mechanical headaches of the swing.

Here is data from ussailing.org which lists the Low, High and Average PHRF ratings for boats. Lower is better: CATALINA 22 FK 249 279 267 CATALINA 22 SK 263 279 270 CATALINA 22 WK 267 285 273 Not a lot of difference betwwen the three versions.
