Since day one, the bilge pump cycles every 15 minutes. The bilge well holds approx. 1/2 gallon, half of which refills from backflow after pump turns off. Bilge outlet hose check valve has been replaced with no effect. Without back flow I guess bilge pump would cycle hourly.

2 problems, the pump and the bilge re-filling.

Assuming you have a Rule 1100, as is installed in my 2013, one problem is that the automatic sensor appears to fail regularly on this model. The pump turns on, but won’t turn off. OR it goes in to the automatic cycle you are experiencing. Rule Support suggests cleaning the sensor area with soap, to reset the automatic cycling and to fix the pump sensor, but that hasn’t worked for me.

The 2nd problem of the bilge re-filling may not be back flow from the check valve, but the fact the other areas of the bilge drain slowly to the bilge where the pump is located. (My check valve appears to be working properly. Putting aside whether there should be a check valve on a bilge pump outlet hose.) On my boat, after draining the pump area, it often refills with 5 minutes or so. I can barely see water on the sides of the bilge, draining in to the area where the pump is located. Let the pump run for a while to drain the multiple areas where water comes from and see if that fixes the re-filling. That worked for me.

I haven’t solved the pump sensor issue yet, but if the sensor is bad, the pump needs to be replaced. Replace it with another Rule 1100? That makes no sense given all of the negative reviews for the sensor problem, but there is not a lot of room in the bilge…

Frustrating.

Mount a diaphragm bulge pump remotely and run the pickup hose to the bilge. It sound like you have a source of bilge water or a leak
