2009 B37 with 29 hp Yanmar

Trying to find the original hour meter on this boat.

Was the ORIGINAL hour meter a digital one in the bottom of the tachometer?

See attached pictures.

If so it doesn't work.

more than likely it was the original one but the yanmar instruments tend to fail at a higher rate than most other brands so it may be toast

There is a long history of LCD engine hour meter failure regardless of the engine manufacturer. They're probably made by the same source. Mine would come on intermittently and fortunately just before the boat went on the hard for winter.

I installed a analog counter which is robust and inexpensive. Over the winter I connected it to a 12 volt source and ran it until it matched the LCD.

+1 to both replies. Mine came on (surprisingly) when I had the night lights on. Didn't always come on, but hey, you take what you can get. I'll do a remote hour meter, too.
