I have been told that changes in the formulation of diesel fuel that began distribution in January 2007 will cause problems with older engines. Supposedly the injector pump seals will fail. Also supposedly, the simple fix is a half pint of Marvel Mystery Oil in every 20 gallons of fuel. Has anyone else heard of this???

ULSD fuel lubricant

The lubrication properties of the surfur lost with the new formulation of ULSD has not changed. Substitutes are added at refining to compensate so no need to worry. Think about it - It's not likely that the oil companies would even chance jeopardizing their record profits with lots of class-action suits over something so simple and cheap to preclude engine damage regardless of new or old engine. If you hear this again, it's another myth.

Urban myths...

for those who want to believe. The new stuff is better than the old stuff is all you need to know. That's a bit more different from our friends who burn gasoline and have to deal with the new issues involved with ethanol products!!!

Throw in up to 30% vegetable oil

It makes everything work better. Improved lubricity. Even a couple of litres will make your injector pump happy.

Our local fuel dock now has Biodiesel

along with regular, while eavesdropping on the big whale watching boats yesterday, they were saying if you got behind the boat that was using it the exhaust smelled like popcorn.
