Rudder Mod
Hi Garry, I was wondering what hardware you removed to allow the rudder to swing out of the water? Did you add any other brackets? I questioned the Hunter dealer last summer and he said that there was a bulletin from Hunter that recommended that the rudder not be modified. The concern was two fold. One the rudder would loose it's ability to "kick up" and you would risk a broken rudder. Two, with the hardware removed, you would not be able to "lock" down the rudder properly while sailing. Can you comment on the above? I would like to try the rudder mod first. My Hunter 25's rudder gets really dirty and slimey in the slip. I was thinking of putting an ablative bottom paint on the rudder.
