2005 Hunter 38 - accessing Quiet Flush electric toilet solenoid valve

The Jabsco Quiet Flush electric marine toilet with fresh water flush constantly fills with fresh water. Jabsco's excellent technical video shows how to clean the solenoid, as small particles prevent the rubber diaphragm from sealing, and the pressurized freshwater system keeps filling the bowl to overflow. I need help gaining access to this solenoid. The head/shower compartment has no access panels to get to the solenoid behind the toilet, and neither the under-cabinet of the adjacent lavatory nor the side of the aft port locker have access panels to the area in back of the toilet where the solenoid is located. Cleaning (or even replacing) the solenoid is simple, if one could just access it. Anyone have tips on actually getting to this component? Thanks!

It was behind the wall above the vanity on my Hunter 386. Look for a wall plate attached with screws. Replacement is a plug and play.

I'm having the same issue. 2007 H38. I see no removable wall panels in the head area nor in the vanity area. There's nothing removable behind the cabinet nor underneath the sink other than the bottom panel which is just a wiring run.

@Orcas Bob did you find it?

See page 10.11 of the owner's manual. Toilet fresh water supply ties into the vanity sink water supply. That is common on bosts. Maybe accessible from inside the vanity cabinet?

Thanks. I can trace the water supply lines under the vanity sink, but there's no access that I can see

There is a square access panel where the shower wand hose emerges aft of the toilet. Could it be back there?

Its worth a look. Hunter should have made it accessible. I will be very disappointed if not.

Saw the other thread you posted a picture on. On the 38 (mine at least) there is no removable panel there.

Found it!

To close this thread out, in case anyone in the future is trying to locate the Jabsco Quiet Flush solenoid on Hunter 38, it is behind the upper rear cedar panel in the port side hanging locker in the aft cabin.

FWIW the new version of the solenoid is not laid out the same as the old one. The inlet and outlets are oriented differently as is the solenoid itself. The new valve comes with some adapter pieces but force a change in the mounting location of the solenoid.

I used a 4"x2"x3/4" piece of scrap lumber, epoxied to the inside of the hull, and screwed the solenoid down to it.

Thanks for the heads-up. So far, cleaning it has restored proper function. However, having a 12-year-old grandson aboard left us with a broken toilet seat hinge, which is apparently made out of unobtanium. Jabsco part # 28098-2000 has been backordered for months with no ETA. May have to buy the entire seat & lid (at 10x the price) just to get the precious hinges.

If the bowl is "household" size, a seat and lid--and prob'ly even just the hinges-- from a big box store will fit...but won't if the bowl is the smaller round "marine" size. Take the seat and lid with you to check for a match.

p.s. "unobtanium"--Great word!!! I may have to steal it.

Might have a source for it
I’ll check tomorrow

Ok, I’ve located the hinge. They have only one in stock and are holding it for me.
PM me, and I’ll give you details.

Did anybody find a source for the rubber valve seat thingy without having to buy a whole new solenoid/valve? That’s the only fail point. Must be about 10 cents worth of rubber.
