2005 44DS Yanmar transmission

ran over a buoy in the dark, wrapped chain on prop, stalled the engine...now transmission is stuck in forward gear. Removed chain, no apparent underwater damage.
Best course of action to diagnose/repair?

If it were my boat my first call would be to an authorized Yanmar repair shop. Our transmission is a Kanzaki so I would defer to them on the best advice to release it from forward gear. It may be just a simple procedure, but...
