2004 Beneteau 331 - Fresh Water Issue?

I just purchased my first sailboat and I’m very excited. I started winterizing by pouring a few gallons of antifreeze into the freshwater tank. With the freshwater pump on, I saw a little water flowing from the sink (not pink yet), and then it stopped. Now I’m not getting any water from the bathroom or the galley sink.

The water pump runs, but no water comes out at all. I plan to study the layout and watch some YouTube videos, but is there anything specific I should check first?

Thanks in advance!

Congratulations and welcome!

My guess is that the pickup tube is above the bottom of the tank, so the pump consumed what it could and then ran out of antifreeze. It’s also possible the pump got a bit of an airlock and stopped pulling. In theory the pump should be pretty good about self-priming, but I’ve had problems with that before. I’d start by trying to disconnect the output from the pump itself to see if you get pink that far. If not add another gallon to the tank. If you do get pink from the pump outlet then reconnect it and run the pump again to see if it gets to the first sink.

If you have two tanks make sure the manifold is set to only pull from one, and that it’s the one you’ve added the AF to.

Next time, remove the hose from the tank, and stick it in a gallon jug of AF. I have a little pigtail that I can screw on to the tank hose fitting to extend it an extra 18”. Makes winterizing the water system pretty easy.

It sounds like the AF has already been sucked up into the system and now the pump is pumping air.
the AF has to displace the water in the lines, pump and accumulator if you have one.
Add more AF.
