Hi
Looking to install the original autopilot drive designed on a h 410. its a Raymarine drive mounted under the center console. My boat has the steering shaft and key installed. Before I purchase the Raymarine drive I need the chain and gear to mount on the boat. I have no dimensions or drawings. I only have seen the install on a previous h410. Does anyone have any diagrams or dimensions? Any input would help.
Thank you
Jim

I just did this on my boat this summer
you will need a type 2 rotary drive motor...approx 1800$
you will need a 15 tooth sprocket with a 3/8 pitch
and a 57 tooth sprocket with a 3/8 pitch
{check to make sure it takes two full turns from full port to full starboard}

I would suggest jioning the raymarine technical forum and search for your question or post your question, they are very helpfull in this area

you will then need a EV400 sail autopilot...approx 4 grand {can}, and a day to install it with about another 100 bucks in cable and you will then wish you had done it a long time ago......when the wife and I go sailing now its like having a threesome

where did you purchase the gears and chain from? I assume a 430 is same setup as a 410 for the autopilot but do you have any pics to share? I did join raymarine forum. waiting for response. Did you use stainless or steel for the components, compass magnetic issues?
sorry for all the questions.
thanks

On mine, I think I just went to McMaster Carr or some place like that on line for the gears. My small gear is stainless but the big gear is not because it was either too expensive or I could not find one. They really do not need to be stainless. The installation is pretty simple but make sure you shim the motor so the chain is in alignment.

As for the right pitch, etc for the gears the Edson folks helped with that. They know the Raymarine gear so you might contact them to confirm. Sorry I can't be of more help but its been more than four years since I installed mine.

yes..I will get some pictures tomorrow
the gears I purchased off of amazon.....an american company cant remember...somewhere down south....the 57 tooth had to be a custom job....maybe a couple hundred bucks and the 15 tooth was cheap like 15 bucks...yes they are steel and the chain as well, should out last the motor.......
and...no..there are no issues with the compass
the alignment was kind of easy....if its not aligned it will fall off like a bicycle, but it works very slow and it doesnt move back and forth more than a few inches....so its kind of simple

the raymarine forum is kind of slow so dont get discouraged....you will get your answers there....you may want to do a search for my questions concerning this...try under "john gomes"
